Blue skies, sunny days .

It has been cold today, and lots of places have had a fair amount of disruption because of the snow. Here in Lancashire this morning was beautiful. I had time to walk the dog in the snow and the sun. It was quite warm too in the sunshine and the blue of the sky was lovely. I was happy and grateful not to have to rush off anywhere.

I have been thinking about what to do when I am away from my workplace, and so I am experimenting with ink pads and things in my environment. I am quite pleased with todays print from some fabric in my workplace.

Running to the deadline…

Running to the deadline, again! But there you go . The icy winds from the East are chilling the Country, -3 for us tonight, to be honest it was colder a few weeks ago. But I must be careful not to tempt fate. So lets get some images sorted.

The last few days have seen me working with the mini circle gel pate and a rectangular mask.

Off we go…

Off we go on another day . What each day  brings is sometimes what we plan for and other times things just happen, or not . Things not happening can be as difficult to cope with as a full diary . I am learning not to worry too much about less active days, and remember I need time to think and plan new work , being active all the time can cause everything to become overwhelming . So one job at a time .

Today has seen me experimenting with two smaller circular gel plates. I have tired to print them both at the same time, it was quite hard to line them up so I am not sure I will be doing that again . Still I like them, so there we are, and I don’t like every print I make.  Here are prints from the last few days , I am getting a bit confused which I have posted as I have started putting them on Instagram when I make them ,which confuses my brain into thinking I have posted them on here. Oh well what was I saying about one job at a time …

Say yes more.

I have been trying to say yes more. It sounds easy , but for me anyway, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. There is always other things to do, it might have a financial cost attached to it, it might be something I have never done before and the list goes on. Well today I said yes. I was given some information about a conference in June and now its booked. Hurrah! So if you are going to the People Places and Power Conference in Birmingham in June let me know and we can meet up for a coffee and a chat.

Cups of tea and a good chat are great medicine.

Its been a good day, met up with a friend for a super chat over a nice cup of tea. Just what I needed to spur me on to be more productive.

Tuesdays print followed on from Mondays print , I liked the blue, and I enjoyed how the texture of the tissue made the pattern.

Wednesday, well what can I say it was Valentines day after all.

A year making collages is a hard routine to end, so today I made a collage to print onto. Using the round gel plate and some acrylic paint , thread was used a stencil .

DEADLINES

Oh my I am not good at deadlines, there always seems so many things that need doing, I do find it hard to put one thing on top of the list. Any hints and tips on how to do this are greatly appreciated .

Saturdays print  stayed with the circular gel plate. I used the rectangular mask and a small letter stamp. It is difficult to see the letter stamp in the picture, but I liked the layers of acrylic paint as they began to dry between prints.

Sundays print found me returning to an old motif I have used lots in the past, it just popped into my thoughts so I used household paint to make a mono print.

Mondays print just came by chance as I was using some blue paint and thinking about me and the space I take up on the earth.

Technology

I do wish I had more skills in electronic technologies, I am often taking more time over things because I make mistakes using it , frustrations  akimbo !

Well not so frustrating with the prints, I am enjoying the round gel plate, and I have been using a rectangular mask. Lots of layering and mini prints.

5.2.18

Well an interesting day today. I returned to a school for the first time in a while, not actually to teach but to supervise an exam. Still it was odd returning after quite an absence.

Despite the cold I set to making todays print after school . I like the circular gell plate, and the rectangular mask , so I have used different colours and over printed a purple print from yesterday. Cold and frosty colours to fit with the temperature in my workspace.

The months tick by

On the wind in February
Snowflakes float still,
Half inclined to turn to rain,
Nipping, dripping, chill.
~Christina Georgina Rossetti, “A Year’s Windfalls,” 1866

Here we are then, oh my its been busy. But I have had a day off, and been to see the most fabulous show by the most amazing choreographer Hofesh Shechter.

Hope you are all happy .
